Bean Tennessee Stock

Bean Tennessee Stock

Of all the stocks available in the market today, the classic lines of the Tennessee longrifle is the one most commonly associated with the working man. These American longrifles were the soul of the settler from the valley of the Virginias to the Mississippi River and to the Southern coast of the Carolinas. Most of these rifles were the right arm of the man who held it. They were plain, undecorated and generally mounted in iron furnishings. Where there was no iron available, none was applied. But most usually, the best built long gun had a wonderful fit of metal to wood and usually came with buttplate, triggerguard, nosecap and entry pipe. One authority who has spent his entire life studying Southern Guns believes that for the most part an un-mounted rifle would be a re-stocked rifle. If you think of these guns as your wallet, I believe their use was total and complete; used to the end, well worn until gone, then re-built and used once again. Its no wonder few survived to tell the tale of life on the then frontier. Stocks were maple prior to the war but post war stocks were primarily walnut. Ask about curly walnut! Right and left hand available. But not available pre-inlet for swamped barrels.
