Tools

This has without a doubt been the most thoughtful of all sections upon which I have worked. The best work an individual can do depends on the tools of the trade he chooses to use. It is for this reason, that I have spent so much time studying what I should include here for you. Many of you have little if any experience in rifle construction. Relax. Regardless how good the guru is he had to start somewhere too. And just like most of us, he probably worked twice as hard as he had to when he first began, simply because of the lack of proper tools also. I know I did and still do. Hopefully, you can benefit from the mistakes of the rest of us!

INLETTING TOOLS

First to come within this section is inletting tools. These are by far our best effort since we make them here and are able to do quality control. I have added scrapers to our line-up. Please feel free to let us know about needed tools. These scrapers are modeled after originals but made with today’s best steel and good comfortable handles. Adding these was the result of your requests!
Inletting chisels, inletting black, hammers, and scrapers.

CARPENTRY & MACHINE TOOLS

There are a lot of tools in carpentry. There are several of these that are excellent to use in rifle building. I have chosen to include versions of them which I use myself. There are also tools machinists use which are absolutely necessary as well. Some of these tools are so basic or simple I cannot buy them as cheaply as you probably can! Many here I hope you will trust that I have chosen for special reasons and look at them carefully. I will try to describe them fully so that if you can find them at a better price, then by all means, do so. But do keep in mind, I never choose a lesser quality because I can’t stand to waste my money on junk, so if a product is more expensive in here, there is undoubtedly a good reason for it. Most of these tools are specialized. A no-nonsense commentary for each product will describe it and its use.

ENGRAVING TOOLS

This is the last product section since it is the very last act in the play! When it comes to engraving, practice is the key. I will try to provide the rest!
Inletting chisels, black, chasing hammers, layout white, gravers & magnifiers.

Wire Inlay Tools

Our latest addition in tools! Thanks to Frank Bartlett for the schooling in wire inlay, I am sharing with you some of the new tools I have found which makes this job a whole lot easier. Quality tools for a reasonable price.
