Early Leman Pre-Shaped Fullstock

Henry E. Leman was trained by fellow Lancaster, Pennsylvania craftsman Melchoir Fordney from 1828-1831. Leman then worked with George Tryon from 1831-1834 and then finally set out on his own producing contract trade rifles to the Indian Bureau and western traders. His first trade rifles were flintlock fullstocks, then percussion and ultimately halfstocks. By the 1860’s Henry Leman had outsold the competition for the Plains Indian trade. According to records, captured Leman rifles outnumbered Henrys, Hawkens and Golchers by almost a hundred to each one.  These short heavy built rifles were built in large caliber flint and percussions for hard use. Their evolution marked the plains rifles to come. You decide whether you build flint or caplock! This pre-shaped stock comes standard with straight octagon barrel and rod channel with drilled ramrod hole; and is not inlet for lock, triggers or cut for buttplate. Right hand only.
