J & S Hawken Half Stock

This stock is shaped after an original J&S Hawken halfstock rifle. One of several J & S models, this half stock rifle has the beaver cheek and caplock characteristics of the plains rifle. More changes  would  be made but the  basic  design and fine, thin lines would stay. Amazingly narrow buttstocks would terminate into knife thin combs at the wrist. Original guns were much finer than most are portrayed these days! This stock is designed to accommodate up to 1-1/8 inch barrels. If you order a 7/8 barrel, be prepared to remove a lot of wood if you want to be authentic, but it could be done. Originals were usually stocked in tough straight grained walnut and featured heavy weight straight tapered barrels in .50 cal and up predominately mounted in steel.The White” rifle was built in pure silver mountings and extensive inlays were profuse! It is in private hands now but really does exist! Right hand only.
